However, because the scan element is moved by hand, its difficult for this to pick up longer barcodes. UPC symbols? No problem. A few digits in Code39? Easy. But if youre using longer codes that are storing more, it becomes unreliable and you have to scan repeatedly. Also the barcode has to be the right size. If you print large-size codes for example on a shipping label it might have trouble reading it.
